supporting sewa

While in Ahmedabad, I visited the SEWA (Self Employed Women’s Association) reception centre with hopes of learning more about the trade union and spending some rupees to support the women who are a part of it.

Their simple headquarters featured walls covered in infographics about its members and various movements across India.  Several women were working on sewing machines and a small assortment of textiles were available for purchase.

I was shown an assortment of high quality dress fabrics, clothing and pillow covers and left with a few gifts for some lucky folks at home.
